The Pensacola area has seen the importance of offering public transportation for more than 100 years. In fact, the first public transportation services offered in Pensacola date back to 1884. The system has experienced significant growth since Escambia County's early days of mule drawn cars on a 3.5-mile system. ECAT currently has 1,500+ bus stops covering 285 miles of routes with a record 1.6 million annual passenger trips. Escambia County Area Transit (ECAT) has provided citizens with safe, convenient and affordable transportation throughout the Pensacola area.
The ECAT system currently provides service through the fixed-route bus, seasonal Pensacola Beach trolley, University of West Florida (UWF) on-campus trolley and ADA paratransit transportation.
