Transit System Celebrates Improved Routes with Community-wide Challenge

August 29, 2006

(Pensacola, Fla.) - - In celebration of upcoming route improvements, Escambia County Area Transit (ECAT) is extending a challenge to those who think they can go "hand-to-hand" in a contest of sheer determination, duration and stamina. During this competition, participants must place both hands on an ECAT bus without taking them off - for a longer amount of time than anyone else.

The contest will begin Friday, September 8, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. outside the main ECAT terminal on 1515 Fairfield Drive. The last remaining contestant will receive a free cruise for two.

"We encourage any Pensacola area resident or visitor to join us for the Hands On contest in support of community-wide route improvements," said Nancy Lohr, ECAT Director of Marketing and Customer Service. "This is an exciting time as these modifications and restructuring are truly helping to better serve the community."

These festivities mark the culmination of route improvements for the system, set to begin September 10, 2006. In total, 21 routes will be affected by this second and final phase.
